Moray eels are snake-like fish with elongated bodies, sharp teeth, and a powerful jaw. They are often found hiding in crevices, caves, or coral reefs. Moray eels have poor eyesight, relying on their sense of smell to locate prey. They feed on a variety of fish, cephalopods, and crustaceans. Despite their intimidating appearance, moray eels are usually non-aggressive and will only attack when threatened. They have a second set of jaws called pharyngeal jaws, located in their throat, which can be extended forward to grab prey and pull it into the eel's throat for swallowing.
