Nurse sharks are bottom-dwelling sharks known for their relatively docile nature. They have a broad, rounded snout and distinctive barbels near their nostrils. Nurse sharks spend much of their time resting on the seafloor or in caves during the day and become more active at night to search for food. They are nocturnal feeders, consuming a variety of bottom-dwelling fish, crustaceans, and mollusks. Nurse sharks have powerful jaws and sharp teeth but pose little threat to humans unless provoked. They are commonly encountered by divers and snorkelers in tropical and subtropical waters.
